13"Documented by Ray Kent". Text From Source: The clogmaker wouid usually fell the trees himself with an axe and vould cut it into 12 to 15 inch logs. His favourite woods were the elm, the alder, the beech and the poplar. The latter, being light, was reserved for making clogs for the elderly. The logs were cut, shaped and hollowed out by a variety of tools which can be seen at the back of the workshop. The clogs were left to dry for six months before sale. Clogs for Sunday wear were varnished and blackened
